Trade EUR/CHF, the euro against the franc
EUR/CHF prices how many Swiss francs one euro buys. Switzerland sits at the heart of Europe and does most of its trade with the euro area, so this cross is usually calm, but it has a history of sudden moves when the Swiss National Bank acts.

About EUR/CHF
Euro vs Swiss franc
In September 2011 the SNB set a minimum exchange rate of 1.20 francs per euro to stop the franc from strengthening. On 15 January 2015 it removed that floor without warning, and EUR/CHF fell by well over 10% within minutes. The episode is a reminder that low-volatility pairs can still gap.
Day to day, the pair responds to the policy gap between the ECB and the SNB and to safe-haven demand: in times of stress the franc tends to strengthen, pushing EUR/CHF lower.
